The seventh meeting of the heads of the Assembly of Gas Exporting Countries (GECF) ended its work with the publication of a statement in Al Jazeera, Algeria.

According to Energy Press, citing the information base of the Assembly of Gas Exporting Countries, the heads of states and governments of the member countries of the Assembly of Gas Exporting Countries (GECF) issued a statement on March 2, 2024 (Saturday, March 12) and emphasized the spirit of solidarity and cooperation of this assembly. They ended their seventh summit in the historic city of Algiers, the capital of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria.
The 7th JECF Heads of State meeting, hosted by Abdel Majid Taboun, the President of Algeria, and the theme “Natural gas for a safe and stable future”, the heads of states and governments of member countries including Algeria, Bolivia, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, Iran, Libya, Nigeria, Qatar, Russia, Trinidad and brought together Tobago, UAE and Venezuela and observers from Angola, Azerbaijan, Iraq, Malaysia, Mauritania, Mozambique and Peru.
In this meeting, representatives from the countries of Oman, Senegal, Tunisia and Italy and international organizations including the African Union Energy Commission, the Organization of African Petroleum Producers, the ASEAN and East Asia Economic Research Institute, the Organization of Arab Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) and the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) OPEC) were also present.
Mohamed Arqab, Minister of Energy and Mines of Algeria and Chairman of the Extraordinary Ministerial Meeting of JECF, Javad Oji, Minister of Oil of the Islamic Republic of Iran and Chairman of the Annual Ordinary Meeting of Ministers of Oil and Energy of the Member States in 2024, and Mohammad Mahar, Secretary General of JECF were also present in this meeting.
The President of Algeria emphasized that this meeting is an opportunity to draw a common vision in order to protect the interests of gas producers and consumers and shows our commitment to the goals of the JECF and the determination of the members to strengthen their role and emphasize it.
Referring to the contribution of the Assembly of Gas Exporting Countries to the world’s energy security and that natural gas plays an essential role in achieving sustainable development and meeting the ever-increasing needs of global energy, he said: Algeria has always supported the idea of expanding the role of natural gas in sustainable development and its use. It has been supported as a clean source alongside new and renewable energies.
Tebun continued: In a situation where we all seek to support technological progress in the field of gas, sign long-term gas contracts, fair prices and policies to encourage investment in energy, today’s challenges double the need to strengthen dialogue and the importance of multilateral actions to achieve the goals of the JECF. .
At the same time, he emphasized that this country will continue to cooperate with all sides with the aim of ensuring a common and promising future for this clean fuel by expanding and increasing relations and consultations between the main players of the Gar market.
The President of Algeria also emphasized on continuous and close cooperation with the members, which helps the process of welcoming new members in order to help improve the international status of the Association of Exporting Countries and achieve the strategic goals of this organization.
