According to Energy Press, the Oil and Gas and Natural Resources Commission of the Iraqi Parliament announced that Iraq has not yet reached self-sufficiency in gas production.

According to Al-Sabah report, Nazem al-Shabli, a member of the Oil Commission of the Iraqi Parliament, said that the first set of investments was not focused on investing in the gas field, and this is a big mistake.

He added that Iraq needs at least 2 years to exploit gas properly in line with the use of gas in power plants.

Al-Shabli stated that Iraq still needs Iranian gas because it takes a long time to exploit the gas.

This member of the Oil and Gas Commission of the Iraqi Parliament said that the demand for electricity is increasing, and even though the Ministry of Petroleum has announced that the electricity production is sufficient, Iraq needs a plan to distribute electricity, but the problem is energy wastage, and we hope that the electricity situation will improve this summer. be different from previous years.

It should be mentioned that Ziad Ali Fazil, Iraq’s Minister of Electricity, previously signed a contract with Iran’s National Gas Company for 5 years to import gas.
