An energy expert said: "The energy imbalance in the country is increasing every year, such that gasoline consumption has increased by 50 percent in five years, and a similar situation exists in other energy carriers. It seems that in these circumstances, an energy ministry should be established."
The head of the Environmental Protection Agency pointed out the role of substandard gasoline in air pollution and said: "Some of the gasoline consumed by mobile sources, including cars, does not comply with the national standards approved by the National Standards Organization."
Fatemeh Mohajerani, a spokeswoman for the 14th government, emphasized: "The gasoline imbalance is a serious issue that has two solutions: importing gasoline and managing consumption."
Parliamentary Deputy Pezizkian stated: "If a fuel card is going to be issued, it should be issued to all people and it should be in the name of the person, not the name of the vehicle."
The deputy director of operations for the Tehran Region Oil Pipelines and Telecommunications Company announced that more than 700 million liters of fuel have been transferred to the country's power plants since the beginning of this year.
The CEO of the National Iranian Petroleum Products Distribution Company said: Diversifying the country's fuel portfolio is among the programs that are being seriously pursued by the 14th government.
