The former CEO of Jam Petrochemical in an interview with "Energy Press":

Iran’s gas will end in the next 30 years
The amount of gas deposits and the amount of gas that can be removed are completely clear. With a simple calculation, we find out that we can harvest gas only in 30 years.

According to the exclusive report of Energy Press, the lack of gas in winter is the biggest challenge of the Ministry of Oil, but why does a country that has the second largest gas reserves in the world suffer from its lack. Mismanagement, along with sanctions, are the most important reasons for Iran’s backwardness in the oil industry and lack of gas. Hossein Mirafazli, the former CEO of Jam Petrochemical, said in an interview with “Energy Press” about Iran’s gas challenges: “The most important gas problem is consumption management.” Even if we increase production, if consumption is not managed, problems will continue.
Mirafazli continued: “Due to lack of investment in the field of production, our gas fields have faced a drop in pressure and we have had a decrease in production.” And if we do not invest, production will decrease and gas consumption will increase. There is a harvesting law for oil and gas fields. We have to inject into the field as much as the harvesting is done. If Saudi Arabia produces 10 million barrels of oil, it injects the same amount of water; We cannot harvest but not think about injection.

Referring to the problems in South Pars, he reminded: In South Pars, we should invest in this discussion, because if we don’t do it, we will definitely have problems. Another issue in South Pars is the dangerous competition between Iran and Qatar, which ultimately damages the reservoir and is to the detriment of the countries. Although Qatar is more compliant because it works with large companies, the tank is still damaged. We need to reach a strategic understanding with the countries with whom we share oil and gas fields on extraction, how to extract and the duration of extraction so that the reservoir is not damaged.
Mirafazli, announcing that Iran will reach the end of gas extraction in 30 days, said: the amount of gas reserves and the amount of gas that can be extracted are completely clear. With a simple calculation, we realize that we can harvest gas only in 30 years, if we are very optimistic, this number will reach 35 years. In order to stabilize gas production, we must inject.

He added: “The field must be wet and dry, we cannot just harvest, we must think about the implementation of projects to increase the harvest.” If we want to maintain the production of 800 million cubic meters of gas, we must reach the capacity of our gas field.

Mirafazli said: The countries of Iraq, Saudi Arabia and Qatar have diversionary drilling technology and they can easily enter another land.
