Jam Petrochemical CEO:

The most important petrochemical equipment of Jam in overhaul is domestic production

The most important petrochemical equipment of Jam in overhaul is domestic production
CEO of Jam Petrochemical explained about the company's internal equipment in a conversation with Energy Press reporter.

Abdur Rahim Qanbarian, CEO of Jam Petrochemical, in a conversation with Energy Press reporter regarding the overhaul of Jam Petrochemical, said: It was planned to carry out major repairs of Jam Petrochemical in the first six months of 1402, but it was not done due to several reasons, one of the reasons being that we were not ready to equip ourselves. If it was possible, we could not do the overhaul because one of the big units that produce ethylene and polyethylene was taken out of the production circuit for major repairs, and we could not involve two big companies in the country in the overhaul at the same time.
He added: August was the time when we could do the overhaul, but August is not the right time for an overhaul. Recently, in the past month, companies involved in major repairs had accidents that unfortunately resulted in the loss of a number of our colleagues. Therefore, the best time we reached a consensus with colleagues for the overhaul is November, which is the biggest overhaul that happens in Jam Petrochemical.
Ghanbarian continued: Jam Petrochemical was suffering from leakage in its equipment for several years. This equipment is European and cannot be easily obtained. Some Chinese companies have claimed that they can provide this equipment, but so far they did not have references and we did not succeed in signing a contract with them. But fortunately, a knowledge-based company that had previous successful experience in the country claimed that it can make this equipment and provided this equipment for both us and Bidbland Refinery.
Pointing out that the equipment is now ready to be transferred, he said: We hope that this equipment will be transferred to Asalouye soon, and according to the plans we made, we will be able to take the unit out of service on the first of November, and within 37 days, we planned to transfer the unit to We will restore the production circuit.
In response to the question of how much Iranian equipment has been economical for the company, CEO of Jam Petrochemical stated: The equipment we use is a cold box, which is an equipment used in ultra-cold and is very complex in terms of engineering. Until now, Europeans and Japanese have been producing it. It is impossible to prepare it with the political conditions and sanctions imposed on Iran. This equipment is currently worth more than 6 million euros. But fortunately, a knowledge-based company that has already successfully installed this equipment in Shiraz Petrochemical and produced this equipment for our company.
According to Ghanbarian, these basic repairs improve both the performance and equipment of the devices and also prevent product wastage.
CEO of Jam Petrochemical stated: We hope to be able to increase the nominal capacity of Jam Petrochemical’s olefin unit, which is a very difficult task, to one million three hundred and twenty thousand tons per year for the first time. We hope to reach this capacity in the unit which is the largest olefin unit in Iran.
Regarding the nominal capacity of Jam Petrochemical, Ghanbarian said: Due to the weather conditions, even if we had the equipment, we could not reach the nominal capacity. One of the things that we have to use in our process are coolants, the most important coolant of ours is sea water, but due to the weather conditions, the temperature of the sea water is high and we cannot reach the number we had based on the design. Right now, we are about 80%, but after major repairs, the converters must be cleaned, the sea water conditions should be suitable, and gas waste should be prevented so that we can get close to the nominal capacity.
