66 percent of the natural gas delivered to the national network yesterday (December 6) was allocated to the domestic, commercial, and small industrial sectors, which is a 20 percent increase compared to the same day last year.
The former Secretary General of the Gas Exporting Countries Association, pointing out that gas is a suitable fuel in transition, said: "We (the world's gas exporters) believe that by 2050, more than 60 percent of the global energy portfolio will still be supplied by fossil fuels."
The Secretary General of GECF arrived in Tehran to attend the 26th Ministerial Meeting of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum from December 6 to 8.
The Deputy Minister of Oil for International Affairs and Trade announced the gathering of the world's largest gas exporters in Tehran and said: "These countries collectively hold 70 percent of the world's gas reserves, 40 percent of production, 47 percent of gas exports through pipelines, and 51 percent of LNG exports."
The head of the North Drilling Company said: The new Sahar 1 mission includes drilling 9 in-field wells (infill) in Phase 19 of South Pars with the aim of reducing the gas imbalance in the country.
The CEO of the National Iranian Gas Company emphasized that the issue of energy imbalance has now become a public issue, saying: "Everyone needs to be involved and work to manage energy consumption."
The Deputy Minister of Oil for Gas Affairs announced a 22 percent increase in gas consumption by the household, commercial, and non-consumer industries sectors compared to the same period last year, and said: "Gas consumption in this sector reached 547 million cubic meters per day on Saturday."
Emphasizing that the Ministry of Oil is making every effort to prevent gas outages during the cold months of the year, the Minister of Oil said: "Know that the area of domestic and commercial consumption is the red line for this ministry in terms of gas supply."
The recent sanctions on Gazprombank have raised serious concerns in the European Union about the threat to its energy security, which could potentially extend to Gazprom itself. If that happens, Tehran could take advantage of the gas deal with Moscow and transit surplus Russian gas to its neighbors.
Emphasizing that our demand for people to save on gas and other energy carriers does not mean not consuming them, the Minister of Oil said: "If people reduce the temperature of their home heating systems by one degree, it will play an effective role in eliminating part of the gas imbalance in the country."
