Zagros Petrochemical seeks sustainable feedstock supply: Methane gas extraction from Salman platform flares
The CEO of Zagros Petrochemical Company announced the daily extraction of four million normal cubic meters of methane gas from the Salman platform if its flare gas is separated. This measure is a positive step towards reducing energy imbalance and reducing environmental pollutants.

According to an exclusive report by Energy Press, a memorandum of understanding between the National Iranian Oil Company and Zagros Petrochemical Company for the implementation of the Salman Platform Flare Gas Collection Project was held and signed on the last day of the International Oil Industry Exhibition.
This memorandum of understanding was signed with the aim of reducing environmental pollutants, optimizing the use of hydrocarbon resources, and private sector investment in infrastructure projects in the oil industry.
In an exclusive interview with Energy Press, Matin Didari, CEO of Zagros Petrochemical, provided explanations about this memorandum and said: We signed a memorandum of understanding with the National Iranian Oil Company for the collection of Salman Platform Flare Gas.
As you know, in recent years we have faced problems with gas supply and unfortunately in 1403 we reached the highest gas shortage. Since the Zagros Petrochemical Complex is one of the largest consumers of feed gas in the region, in order to ensure the sustainability of this feed supply and maintain production, we conducted follow-ups and examined the Salman platform. Unfortunately, gas has been flared on this platform for years. In cooperation with the National Oil Company, the necessary platform has been provided to enable technical and economic studies to be conducted for the transfer, refining, and conversion of this gas into methane.
