Where did the warning of water shortage in Tehran’s schools reach?
According to Energy Press, it was the first half of September this year when the drinking water of dozens of public schools in Tehran was cut off by the Tehran Water and Sewerage Company. After this action of ABFA became news and the complaints of schools were raised, the Water and Sewerage Company of Tehran province issued a notice in this regard.
In this announcement, it was emphasized that ABFA’s action to cut off water to schools was within the framework of the law and in order to protect the capital’s underground water resources.
In a part of this announcement, it was stated: “Public schools owe more than 600 billion tomans to this company for sewerage distribution rights, and so far about 2000 public schools in the capital have not been connected to the sanitary sewage collection network, and according to the announcements and warnings of this company to obtain a distribution Sewers have been neglected.”
A few days after this notification was issued, Alireza Kazemi, the Minister of Education and Culture, reacted to this issue and said: “The school principals will solve the problems themselves and will pay if there is a debt.” All devices help education and be sure that no school’s water and electricity will be cut off.”
Also, Ali Farhadi, the spokesperson of the Ministry of Education and Culture, informed about the negotiations with the Ministry of Energy to prevent the water cut in schools and announced: “I told the Ministry of Energy that cutting the water in schools is not in the dignity of the Islamic Republic of Iran and if there is a problem, Let’s sit together and negotiate to solve it.”
Farhadi informed about the negotiation with the Legal Deputy Minister of Energy and emphasized that this action (cutting off water to schools) was not approved by the Legal Deputy Minister of Energy.
