Water shortage warning in Tehran
According to Energy Press, citing the public relations of Alborz Regional Water Company, Dawood Najafian, CEO of the province’s Regional Water Company, stated: The total amount of rainfall since the beginning of the current water year is about 250 mm, which is compared to the amount of the same period last year, which was 227 mm. It has increased by about 10% and compared to the similar long-term average, it has decreased by about 8%.
He added: During the recent rains, the snow deposits in the catchment basins of Taleghan and Karaj dams have increased and the volume of water stored in Karaj and Taleghan dams has increased to some extent, so that out of the 180 million cubic meters of Karaj dam, about 38 million cubic meters of water have been stored, but in Compared to last year, it is about 17% negative.
The CEO of Alborz Regional Water Company continued: About 170 million cubic meters of the volume of 429 million cubic meters of Taleghan dam have been filled, which shows a five percent increase compared to last year.
He said: Therefore, the latest state of the water reserves of the dams shows that despite the recent rains and the increase in inputs that have happened, for the coming year and the peak months of drinking water consumption, we must have a proper plan to manage water consumption in different sectors, especially in the drinking sector . In this regard, the necessary measures and planning have been done several months ago with the agreement of Abfai Provincial Water Company.
Najafian further said: We need the people of the province to have good cooperation and participation in this field and reduce their per capita consumption so that we can prevent the cutoff or reduction of drinking water pressure in the peak months of this year.
