The statement of the Ministry of Petroleum about the damaged oil tankers off the coast of Singapore
According to Energy Press, two oil tankers collided yesterday morning (Friday) off the coast of Singapore. This incident was quickly published in the world’s major news outlets, and some news outlets such as Reuters and Bloomberg claimed that a giant oil tanker (VLCC) that was damaged in this incident was carrying two million barrels of Iranian crude oil to China.
However, Iran’s Ministry of Oil announced in an official announcement: None of the damaged tankers were related to Iran.
Based on this, it has been emphasized that the crude oil cargo of none of these two damaged tankers has anything to do with Iran and did not belong to Iran.
According to the published documents, the supertanker “Series 1” carries the flag of the island country of “Sao Tome and Principe” located in the Gulf of Guinea in the west of the African continent. Another tanker that collided with this supertanker is Singaporean.
According to the statement of the Ministry of Oil, it is not clear in the circumstances that Iran has been able to increase its oil production and export in spite of the US sanctions, with what purpose and intention is the attribution of the cargo of this giant oil tanker to Iran by the Western media.
