The head of the parliament’s energy security faction: Russia’s green light to build Zangzor is against Iran’s interests
According to Energy Press, Zainat Qaysari, the representative of the people of Tehran and the head of the energy security, mineral resources and sustainable development faction of the Islamic Council wrote in his user account on X social network:
“The Russians’ green light to create Zangzor has a geopolitical edge. In return for this corridor privilege, Russia plans to export a part of its surplus gas to Azerbaijan to go to Europe indirectly through the “Southern Gas Corridor”. This incident is against the interests of Iran to become the gas hub of the region.
In this way, the gas relations between Iran and Russia will be damaged, and Alif’s dream of bringing gas exports to Europe to 20 billion cubic meters by 2027 will be interpreted, and 10% of Russia’s surplus gas will be consumed. “Now the infrastructure for the annual transfer of 10 billion cubic meters of gas from Moscow to Baku is available.”
