The complaint file of Tavanir Iran goes from Ghent, Türkiye to Switzerland
According to Energy Press, Mehrdad Aglimi said about Turkey’s debt for importing electricity from Iran: It has been more than a decade since a contract was signed between “Tavanir” company from Iran and a private company named “Gant” of Turkey. In the years ending in 2016, due to the said company’s refusal to pay the debt for the import of electricity from Iran, the export to this country was stopped. Based on this, Tawanir company has claims of about 263 million dollars from the said company for the price of electricity sold, which has remained uncollected despite all the measures taken, including negotiations between the parties and diplomatic efforts through various channels.
Referral to Swiss arbitration
He added: In order to collect its claims, Tovanir intends to file a dispute in the arbitration authority provided for in the agreement between the parties, according to which the Swiss Arbitration Institute has been selected as the arbitration authority.
The director of the foreign trade office of Tovanir Electric Company said: “Based on the principle of the 139th constitution and with the coordination of the presidential legal deputy, the government bill for referring the matter to arbitration was prepared and sent to the Islamic Council for approval, which was followed by the discussion of the issue in the open floor of the parliament during the day. On Sunday, April 19 of this year, the referral of the matter to arbitration was confirmed and approved by the representatives of the Islamic Council.
