Tehran’s water crisis continues

According to Energy Press, quoted by Iran’s Water News Network, Ahad Tazifi, head of the National Center for Climate and Drought Crisis Management, explained about the latest rainfall situation in Tehran: the average rainfall in April was normal and even more than normal, and with continued Rain this week in Tehran province, Semnan and the central to southern regions of the country, good rainfall is ahead; But these rains will not compensate for the lack of water in these provinces due to the little remaining opportunity, because in some provinces there is a long distance from the optimal water storage.

Pointing out that the evaporation capacity in our country is very high, he pointed out that Tehran province has 2000 mm evaporation capacity with 280 mm of annual rainfall. While our behavior with water is not logical; As a result, if the rainfall conditions reach the normal level, we are still far from the ideal conditions.

Razavi called the rainfall situation in the provinces of Tehran, Qazvin, Alborz, Semnan and Khorasan to be less than normal in general conditions and stated: The rainfall situation in Tehran is 40% negative compared to normal. The head of the National Center for Climate and Drought Crisis Management of the country stated that the amount of rainfall in Tehran has not reached 120 mm from 220 mm per year, and added: Despite the fact that we are in a time of high rainfall, the amount of water reserves of all 5 dams in Tehran is less than 20 percent and we are facing a significant water shortage.
