Iran's urea and ammonia industry, which for years was known as one of the few stable channels for foreign exchange to enter the country, is today under triple pressure from questionable feed price policies, long-term gas outages, and a volatile global market.

Iranian urea export prices for January loading have increased to $307 per ton on a FOB basis, compared to $303-$304.5 per ton previously.

Ehsanullah Mousavi said: Masjid Suleiman Petrochemical has had more than 4 tons of gas debt in the past years, of which we managed to clear 2 tons by demanding urea from the government.
