Supplying 25% of saline gas to the Central Regions Oil Company

According to Energy Press, with the onset of cold weather in the country, the supply of gas needed by various sectors from households to industries and power plants is on the agenda as the main priority of the Ministry of Oil. Each of the oil and gas production companies undertakes specific tasks for gas production to supply the required gas, of course, due to the high consumption of fuel in the country and the lack of necessary optimization in this area, the realized production is always higher than the assigned plan so that the gas of power plants, industries and homes is not interrupted. The Central Regions Oil Company is no exception to this rule and has maximized its gas production with the arrival of the first cold front in the country.
Hamid Izadi, Head of Production Management of the Central Regions Oil Company of Iran, explained the role of this company in providing winter fuel in an interview with Shana reporter and announced: Gas production from all the fields of this company is about 192 million cubic meters per day, which shows the realization of 122 percent of the gas production plan in November.

Gas imbalance has been a serious challenge in recent years. How has the Central Iranian Oil Company, as one of the largest oil and gas producers in the country, helped offset the energy imbalance?
This company consists of the Southern Zagros Oil and Gas Exploitation Company, the East Oil and Gas Exploitation Company, the West Oil and Gas Exploitation Company, and the Sarajeh Qom operational area. In addition to the importance of the role of the Central Iranian Oil Company in the production and supply of gas to the country, the important and strategic discussion of gas storage should also be added. In this regard, two very important fields, Sarajeh Qom in the center of the country and Shurijeh Dey in the Khanqiran region of the East Oil and Gas Exploitation Company, play an important role in supplying gas to the northeast of the country in winter.
What is the process of storing gas in these tanks?
Gas is injected during the eight warm months of the year and regenerated during the four cold months of the year.
How much gas is injected into these two tanks so that you can have a daily gas extraction of 25 million cubic meters from them in winter?
According to the gas injection plan, in the eight warm months of the year, about one billion cubic meters of gas will be injected into the Sarajeh reservoir, of which 81% has been achieved due to the early onset of cold weather in the country. No injection is being made now, and with the increase in gas demand, we have started harvesting. We also had a plan to inject about 2 billion cubic meters of gas for storage in the Shurijeh Dey reservoir, of which 81% of gas injection has been completed. The activities of converting production to injection will be carried out in the shortest possible time, with the round-the-clock efforts of colleagues from all departments and prioritization of activities, in order to use any opportunity for storage and help eliminate the imbalance in the cold season.
Considering these measures, how much gas will the Central Iranian Oil Company produce in winter?
According to the commitment made and announced by the National Fuel Committee, the company was supposed to produce 162 million cubic meters of gas per day in November, but due to the early start of the cold season, the warning of the start of the cold season in the oil industry for maximum production was announced almost on October 10, and given the need to increase production more than the mandatory plan, the percentage of realization of the company’s production plan is now about 122 percent, which shows that the oil of the central regions has fulfilled its commitment much more than the mandatory plan. The peak of gas consumption is in February due to the cold weather, and in this regard, the maximum mandatory gas production plan is expected to be 242.7 million cubic meters in February.
What factors affect achieving this production? And does this production amount include gas withdrawal from gas storage tanks?
The precise implementation of the company’s production and maintenance plans, the tasks of the Fuel Committee, as well as the implementation of development and improvement plans affect achieving maximum production. This year, due to insufficient time allocation, changes in the regional repair calendar, and late notification, we faced many problems, and the efficiency of repairs was also greatly affected. However, with God’s help, and with the careful attention of the executive elements and close supervision of colleagues in the headquarters and operational areas, we will be fully prepared to welcome sustainable winter production.
