South Pars becomes safer; heavy emergency valves replaced on platform number 10
The Director of Production and Operations of Pars Oil and Gas Company announced the replacement of the main 32-inch gas flow disconnection valves (ESDV) of South Pars gas platform No. 10 with the aim of increasing production safety and sustainability.

According to Energy Press, citing Pars Oil and Gas Company, Alireza Sarmadi, referring to the replacement of the 32-inch main gas flow interrupter valves (ESDV) of South Pars platform number 10, said in explaining the process of this project: After conducting the necessary estimates, providing equipment, and assessing the feasibility of implementing operations in the compact environment of the offshore platform, the replacement project of these valves, each weighing 17 tons, was successfully completed.
Referring to the importance of carrying out heavy repair activities in the compact environment of the platform, he added: Precise technical and engineering arrangements were made for the relocation and installation of multi-ton heavy emergency valve equipment in a short period of time, so that while shortening the repair time and production interruptions, operational capabilities for safe and sustainable gas production can be continued and increased.
The Production and Operations Manager of Pars Oil and Gas Company said: During the implementation of this project, simultaneously with the isolation and pressure relief operations of the line in order to create a safe environment, the separation of defective parts and the release of the equipment transportation and installation route were fully implemented, and after transferring these valves by float to the platform location, the aforementioned equipment was installed in its location.
Replacing the valves with more than one thousand safe working hours
The Head of Safety, Health and Environment of the Deputy for Operations and Support also explained the process of securing the workplace in the implementation of the SPD10 platform overhaul program, saying: During the overhaul of this platform, 216 work permits were issued, including 96 cold work permits, 83 hot work permits and 37 flame work permits, and safety officers directly supervised the steps of isolating and replacing two 32-inch main valves at the platform’s flow outlet, opening all tanks for inspection and welding, moving heavy loads, and isolating pipelines.
