Saving $1 billion in oil and gas imports by properly managing consumption

According to Energy Press, Mohammad Sadeq Azimifar stated today (Monday, February 10) at the official launch ceremony of the smart fuel card project that the country has been facing an energy imbalance for several years, stating: This imbalance is due to the rapid growth of production.

Emphasizing that the focus of the Ministry of Oil is on the production category, he added: The Ministry of Oil alone cannot be effective in the field of consumption, and consumption management requires cooperation and coordination between all agencies.
Imbalance cannot be resolved by relying only on production

The CEO of the National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company, emphasizing that nowhere in the world can imbalance be resolved by relying only on production, stated: Looking at the consumption category should not be simplistic and this phenomenon should be approached seriously and by analyzing the reasons, because until there is an accurate assessment of the causes of increased consumption, the issue of consumption management cannot be resolved.

Referring to the measures taken in the field of consumption, Azimifar said: “The approach of the National Iranian Petroleum Refining and Distribution Company is to gradually reform consumption management and imbalances, and measures in the field of consumption must be continuous.”
