Saving 1.7 billion cubic meters of gas in the petrochemical industry

According to Energy Press, citing the National Petrochemical Company, Ali Rabbani stated at the first joint meeting of energy managers of companies under the Ministry of Oil, emphasizing the need for systematic cooperation and coordination between companies: The petrochemical industry has succeeded in saving 1.7 billion cubic meters of natural gas in the past four years by implementing optimization projects, and this year it has set a target of achieving annual savings of more than 200 million cubic meters.
Referring to the active role of the petrochemical industry in national energy consumption management projects and the synergy achieved with the National Iranian Gas Company, including the campaign to reduce gas and electricity consumption by 10 percent, he added: These partnerships have had an effective contribution to consumption management in the domestic, public and commercial sectors.
The Director of Energy Consumption Optimization at the National Petrochemical Company stated that 150 megawatts of renewable power plants have been put into operation in the petrochemical industry so far, and another 250 megawatts will be added to the country’s clean electricity production capacity by the end of the year. He said: “Planning to invest in new energy projects with a capacity of more than 10,000 megawatts is also on the agenda.”
Rabbani continued: “To facilitate private sector investment in renewable energies, the petrochemical industry has made follow-ups to present proposed packages including tax incentives, tariff reform, and the use of electricity and gas market mechanisms.”
The Energy Saving Certificate Market; One of the Effective Tools in Reducing Energy Imbalance
Ali Asghar Rajabi, Director of Energy and Carbon at the National Iranian Gas Company, also considered the development of the energy saving certificate market as one of the effective tools in reducing energy imbalances at this meeting, and emphasized the need to facilitate the registration, measurement, and approval processes of optimization projects in this market.
