Reuters report on Israeli attack on South Pars gas field facilities

Reuters report on Israeli attack on South Pars gas field facilities
Reuters reported in an exclusive report that gas production in Phase 14 of the South Pars Joint Field - the world's largest gas field - has been partially halted following an Israeli airstrike on Iranian energy facilities.

According to Energy Press, Reuters reported in an exclusive report that following an Israeli airstrike on Iranian energy facilities, gas production in Phase 14 of the joint South Pars field – the world’s largest gas field – has been partially halted. This is the first time that Iranian oil and gas infrastructure has been directly targeted by Israel, a matter that is being cited as a turning point in the escalation of tensions.
According to the report, the airstrike on Saturday caused a fire in one of the four units of Phase 14 of the field, which has now been contained.
South Pars, located in the waters of Bushehr province, supplies a large part of Iran’s gas consumption. With an annual production of about 275 billion cubic meters of gas, Iran is the third largest gas producer in the world after the United States and Russia; however, due to international sanctions, the gas it produces is mainly consumed domestically and cannot be widely exported.
