The spokesman for the Energy Commission of the Islamic Consultative Assembly stated that strict implementation of the law with serious determination is necessary to reduce fuel smuggling, and said: "It is necessary to take seriously solutions such as smartization and metering in line with the fight against smuggling."

According to Energy Press, Jalil Mokhtar, in explaining the Tuesday (January 1) session of the Energy Commission of the Islamic Consultative Assembly, referring to the examination of the situation of smuggling of petroleum products, in the presence of Mohammad Sadeq Azimifar, CEO of the National Petroleum Products Refining and Distribution Company, relevant officials in the Headquarters for Combating Smuggling of Goods and Currency, Farajah, and security agencies, stated: Following the statistics announced in the media in recent days, indicating the smuggling of about 20 million liters, a meeting of the commission was held on the issue of fuel smuggling. After providing the necessary explanations, it was emphasized that the tasks communicated to the executive agencies in 2019, such as changing the consumption pattern in accordance with Article (3) of the Anti-Smuggling Law, should be properly implemented, because by implementing this law, fuel smuggling can be significantly controlled.

Of course, reviewing fuel allocation quotas, metering and smartization, changing the method of paying subsidies, amending the law regarding the purchase and sale of fuel, transferring fuel cards to bank cards, creating electronic waybills, etc. were proposed as solutions to overcome the problem of smuggling.
