Record for domestic gas consumption broken; 737 million cubic meters in one day
The CEO of the National Iranian Gas Company, recalling the highest gas consumption recorded in the household, commercial, and small-scale industries on February 2, with 737 million cubic meters, said: "This figure represents an increase of 34 million cubic meters compared to last year's maximum consumption."

According to Energy Press, citing the National Iranian Gas Company, Saeed Tavakoli said on Radio Tehran on Tuesday (March 25) about analyzing the conditions of natural gas consumption in February this year: The first half of February was in line with the unprecedented cold wave experienced in January, and the average temperature of that month had a significant decrease compared to the long-term average.
He announced that under such conditions, the highest amount of gas consumption in the household, commercial, and small-scale industries was recorded on February 2, adding: On this day, the consumption of the sectors reached 737 million cubic meters, which was equivalent to about 85 percent of the total gas delivered to the network. This figure represents an increase of 34 million cubic meters compared to last year, when the maximum consumption was recorded in February of 703 million cubic meters, and in this respect, it is considered a record low.
The CEO of the National Iranian Gas Company emphasized that our country has a unique network in the world due to its very high natural gas penetration rate. He said: “The extensive dependence on gas makes the management of this network a strategic issue during peak consumption days, so that the imbalance on some peak consumption days reached about 300 million cubic meters.” The necessity of infrastructure measures to improve energy efficiency Tavakoli continued, referring to the round-the-clock effort to manage the network from the beginning to the end of the supply chain: “The result of this management and operational coherence was maintaining stability in the production, transmission, and distribution of gas throughout the country, and not a single case of gas outage in the domestic sector occurred.”
