Qalibaf: The main culprit of air pollution is cars and motorcycles

According to Energy Press, Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, in the public meeting of the Islamic Council on Sunday, in response to the warning of one of the MPs about the clean air law, said: Regarding the environment, we must pay attention to the fact that this issue is very vital and there are different aspects such as air pollution. includes water, soil and noise pollution.

He added: There is a comprehensive law in this field, but before any speech, I must make a criticism to the parliament in this regard, and then we will come to the criticism of the devices. The question is, do we not have scrapped and obsolete vehicles now? There are undoubtedly millions of scrap vehicles out there. I will say with a thorough and complete investigation that in cities and metropolises, apart from the issue of power plants, during the year, 81% of the main problem of air pollution is caused by cars and motorcycles.

The Chairman of the Islamic Council clarified: In fact, we write the law, but we ignore the legislator and the law enforcer on the sidelines, this is a big problem, because it is a matter of saving people’s lives. I believe that the parliament and the government should pay attention to this issue, of course, we will hold a monitoring meeting based on Article 107 of the internal regulations of the parliament to discuss pollution and the process of implementing the clean air law, and this issue will be followed up.
