Production of 65 million cubic meters of gas per day; Shargh Oil and Gas Company fully prepared for winter

According to Energy Press, with the onset of the cold season and the increase in natural gas consumption, more attention is being paid to gas producing companies in different parts of the country than ever before. In the meantime, Shargh Oil and Gas Exploitation Company, as one of the operational arms of the Central Regions Oil Company of Iran, plays a vital role in providing energy to the northeast of the country. By operating the Khanjiran (Mazdoran, Shurijeh B, Shurijeh D) and Gonbadli fields, this company makes a significant contribution to the sustainability of the national gas network, especially in winter.
The importance of this company’s activities is not limited to production volume; complete preparation of facilities, implementation of major repairs (overhaul) before winter, compliance with safety standards, and efforts to maximize the extraction of the Gonbadli joint field are among the measures that have a direct impact on the country’s energy security. In a situation where Iran is facing an energy imbalance, the performance of the fields in the east of the country and the role of the hardworking employees of this region have received more attention than ever before. Therefore, with the approaching winter of 1404 and the need for a stable supply of gas in the northern and northeastern provinces, the East Oil and Gas Exploitation Company is pursuing extensive plans to increase production capacity, carry out repair operations, and bring development fields into operation.
Alireza Kamezi, head of the East Oil and Gas Exploitation Company, spoke to Shana reporter about the production status of the company’s fields, the implementation of major repairs, and cooperation with the National Iranian Oil Company and the National Iranian Gas Company.
How much gas production is this company assigned for the winter of 1404 and how will this figure be divided among the fields?
According to the National Iranian Oil Company’s assigned plan and commitment, 65 million cubic meters of gas will be produced daily from the fields under this company in the cold months of this year. Of this amount, the Mazdooran field will produce 45 million cubic meters per day, Shurijeh B will produce 1.4 million cubic meters per day, Shurijeh D will produce nearly 18 million cubic meters per day, and Gonbadli will produce 0.6 million cubic meters per day. The produced gas, after being processed at the Shahid Hasheminejad Refinery, will be injected into the national grid and will supply the energy needs of the six northern and northeastern provinces of the country.
A stable supply of gas in winter requires the complete readiness of the facilities. How did you proceed with this year’s major overhaul program?
Maintenance operations are carried out at two levels; one is continuous maintenance and the other is overhaul, or major repairs. We always try to start maintenance programs at the beginning of spring and finish before the peak consumption begins in autumn. During the annual major overhaul period, production is stopped and maintenance and preventive activities are carried out to prepare the facilities for winter. Fortunately, this year we were able to complete the annual overhaul even one day ahead of schedule, which is a record in itself.
