Oil Minister: Aggression against energy-producing countries is a threat to global stability
Stating that aggression against energy-producing countries is a violation of international law and a threat to global stability, the Minister of Oil said: "The energy industry, and especially oil, in today's interconnected world, needs peace and stability to play its role in promoting national, regional, and global prosperity."

According to Energy Press, in a video message to the opening ceremony of the 9th OPEC International Seminar, Oil Minister Mohsen Paknejad stated that, unfortunately, due to the current unfavorable conditions, I was unable to physically attend your gathering and therefore I am forced to speak to you in this way. He emphasized: This important seminar, which is being held under the slogan “Drawing Paths Together: The Future of Global Energy”, seeks to address serious challenges that threaten the global path towards a secure future in the field of energy.
He continued: What is more important to us is the situation in the Middle East; a region that has long been considered the cradle of the world’s energy and is now facing immediate threats from the open and naked belligerence of the Zionist regime and the United States.
The Minister of Oil added: “Given the limited time of this meeting and considering that the esteemed audience is well aware of the human and material dimensions of the damages caused, I will not go into the details of the treacherous logic, goals, and process of the 12-day military invasion of the Zionist regime. In this invasion, more than 5,000 were injured and about (more than) 1,000 were martyred, among whom are a large number of innocent women and children, as well as university professors in the field of energy and their families.”
A clear violation of international law in the Zionist regime’s brutal aggression against Iran
Paknejad said: “This brutal military aggression against the territorial integrity of the Islamic Republic of Iran, which is one of the world’s main and long-standing energy suppliers, is a clear violation of international law and the United Nations Charter, and this at a time when diplomatic negotiations on Iran’s peaceful nuclear program were underway.”
He added: “Furthermore, and focusing on the topic of the seminar, let me draw your attention to the fundamental principle that lies at the heart of the energy industry, and in particular oil, in our interconnected world today. This vital and growing industry requires peace and stability to play its role in promoting prosperity at the national, regional and global levels, as well as to advance cooperation and development in a world that is rapidly changing and becoming more complex.”
The Minister of Oil continued: “History has taught us that the secure and sustainable supply of energy, which our organization has emphasized for nearly 65 years and the Declaration of Cooperation (known as OPEC+) since its formation at the end of 2016, is based on peace, friendly relations and cooperation between countries.”
Disruption of international energy markets by creating instability Paknejad emphasized: Any unstable situation, regardless of its cause, whether aggression or war, that leads to disruption of the smooth flow of oil and gas supplies to international markets, increases uncertainty for energy producers and consumers and faces national economies with varying degrees of economic difficulties.
