Oil Industry Technology Park; The Ministry of Oil’s strategic arm in realizing the knowledge-based economy

According to Energy Press, quoted by the National Iranian Oil Company, Seyyed Farhang Fasihi stated at the first meeting of the Technological Business Development Committee, emphasizing the necessity of directing the technological activities of the oil industry within the framework of the country’s macro policies: “In line with the Supreme Leader’s guidelines on realizing a knowledge-based economy, we have put on the agenda the study of the plan to revive closed and low-yielding oil wells so that by utilizing the capacity of the elite and the consensus of the committee members, the path to technological advancement in this field can be paved.” Stating that the Oil Industry Technology and Innovation Park has the mission of playing the role of a connecting link between knowledge, industry, and capital, and by facilitating technological interactions, it will pave the way for the formation of a real market for knowledge-based products in the energy industry, he added: “This park is no longer just a place for technology companies to establish themselves, but is becoming a strategic arm of the Ministry of Oil in realizing knowledge-based economy policies.” Oil Park, the axis of synergy of technological decisions in the energy industry
Abdol Hassan Bahrami, Head of the Center for the Guidance of the Knowledge-Based Economy Development Headquarters of the Presidential Vice-President for Science and Technology, also stated in the continuation of the meeting, referring to the role of the park in the country’s national innovation system: From now on, the plans that are proposed in the Economic Council must have a technological attachment.
He added: The Presidential Vice-President for Science and Technology is ready to delegate the implementation of this mission within the scope of the Ministry of Oil to the Oil Industry Technology and Innovation Park so that technological decisions in the energy industry can be pursued with greater synergy and coherence.
