Oil exploration and drilling operations are increasing in Iran

According to Energy Press, Mehdi Fakour stated in the fringe meeting of the 28th International Oil Industry Exhibition in the group of journalists, stating that in the last two years and four months, 9 oil and gas fields have been discovered in Iran, he stated: During the mentioned period, the replacement rate of oil and gas production in the field of exploration has been 100%; In other words, during this period, as much as oil and gas have been exported and consumed, the same amount of new hydrocarbon sources have been discovered and replaced.
He added: Currently, the replacement rate of oil and gas is 30 to 40 percent based on the existing laws of the Islamic Council.

The director of exploration of the National Oil Company emphasized on the development of the country’s exploration roadmap and written program as part of the second step of the ten-year Islamic revolution of Iran in the field of oil and gas exploration and continued: Currently, the success rate in exploration operations in the world is 10%, while this figure is in Islamic Iran. It is 100%, the rate of successful discoveries in Iraq is 50%, in Oman 30%, in the United Arab Emirates 15% and in Qatar 5%.

Stating that in the past, exploration operations in the country were limited to a few specific provinces, he said: Today, 19 provinces of Iran, equivalent to 60% of the country’s area, are being explored, which has created employment for more than 5,000 people.

Fakour reminded: In the past, the explorations at the National Iranian Oil Company were limited to taghdisi oil structures and traps, while today, in addition to this structure, we have also gone to layered and composite traps. Out of 200 sedimentary basins in the world, 9 basins are located in Iran, and among these 9 basins, the three best basins are Zagros, Mian-Rodan, and Fars.
