No increase in electricity consumption in Tehran compared to last year

According to Energy Press, from the Greater Tehran Power Distribution Company, Kambiz Nazerian, CEO of the company, referring to the passing of peak electricity consumption days in the capital, said: The peak electricity consumption demand in Tehran has reached 5,840 megawatts, but fortunately, we have not increased compared to last year. This success has been the result of the support of the people, departments, and the precise implementation of consumption management programs.
Emphasizing that controlling electricity consumption is very vital in these circumstances, he added: Since the beginning of this year, we have had more than 4.5 percent savings in the energy sector, and one of the most important measures has been the smartization of consumption. So far, 370,000 high-consumption and large subscribers have been equipped with smart meters, and 140 megawatts of savings have been achieved from this location alone.
Referring to the savings of 154 megawatts in the field of offices, Nazerian said: Offices are required to reduce energy consumption by 30 percent during office hours and 60 percent after the end of working hours, which plays a very important role in maintaining the stability of the network. Also, with the planning carried out, maximum use of the capacity of emergency generators in offices and industries during peak consumption hours from 12 to 17 is very necessary, and all executive agencies and offices are required to be equipped with this system.
