Nikbin: Transferring the National Oil Company to the private sector is contrary to national interests

According to Energy Press, Javad Nikbin, a member of the Program, Budget and Accounting Commission of the Islamic Consultative Assembly, in an interview with ISNA about holding meetings in the Expediency Discernment Council to examine the issue of transferring shares of the National Oil Company, emphasizing that the oil sector cannot be transferred to the private sector, said: “I believe that all oil and oil products should be in the hands of the government.” Referring to Article 44 of the Constitution of the Islamic Republic, he said: “State-owned companies and mines should all be transferred to the private sector because most of these complexes are loss-making, but oil, like natural resources, is a national issue and is among the assets that should not be transferred to the private sector.”
