New record in ethane production; South Pars delivers 2.15 million tons of petrochemical feedstock
The CEO of the South Pars Gas Complex announced a new record in ethane production and stated: In the first half of 2025, more than 2 million 150 thousand tons of ethane were produced in this complex and delivered to petrochemical plants in the Assaluyeh region.

According to Energy Press, citing the South Pars Gas Complex, Gholam Abbas Hosseini, pointing out that ethane production in the first 6 months of this year has increased by 7.5 percent compared to the same period last year, which was about 2 million tons, said: “High-quality ethane was delivered to the petrochemicals of the Assaluyeh region and plays a key role in providing sustainable feedstock and the strategy of the petrochemical industries of the region.” He added: “This increase in production not only ensures the energy security of these industries, but also provides the basis for the competitiveness of petrochemical products in global markets by improving productivity and reducing production costs.” Referring to the position of this complex as one of the largest energy sources in the country, the CEO of the South Pars Gas Complex stated: “Processing a large volume of natural gas in this complex has created a secure platform for the development of petrochemical industries and increasing employment in the region.”
