Network gas sustainability when residential consumption surpassed the output of Pars Southern field
The country's national gas network, under the coordinated management of the Ministry of Petroleum and with targeted planning for increasing production and controlling gas balance, maintained its stability during the steady winter cold, registering a record 737 million cubic meters of gas consumption in residential and commercial sectors without any sustained pressure drop and continued to supply gas to residential across the country uninterruptedly.

The Ministry of Oil in the fourteenth government, despite the continuation and tightening of restrictions resulting from the unjust sanctions, has seriously pursued the path of upstream development and the protection of production. By focusing on increasing gas production capacity and strengthening critical infrastructure, it has attempted to ensure the country’s energy security during one the most sensitive periods of the year that is, the cold season. In line with this goal, the implementation development plans and the improvement of extraction in the South Pars joint field have to an increase of approximately 2 million cubic meters in the daily gas capacity during this government; a significant that has played a crucial role in gas production and consumption.

on officially released statistics, the result these actions was the recording of a record of 727 million cubic meters of gas extraction from the South Pars field. This record was achieved while South Pars continues to bear the main responsibility supplying gas to the country, and a significant portion of the gas consumed by, industries, and power plants is from this joint field. The continuity sustainable production at this level indicates the technical and operational readiness of gas refineries and the round-the-clock efforts of gas industry employees.

Despite this high level of production, this winter has accompanied by a serious challenge of increased consumption. The establishment of persistent and widespread cold in most parts of the country led to an unprecedented increase in gas consumption in the residential and commercial sectors. According to the announcement of the National Gas Company of Iran, on February 2nd, a record of 737 million cubic meters of gas consumption in a day was recorded in the residential and commercial sectors; a figure that put a heavy pressure on the country’s gas network. In such a way that the consumption of the residential and commercial sector surpassed 10 million cubic meters of daily production from the South Pars gas field.
