Minister of Energy: The key to solving the country’s electricity industry problems is improving the economic situation
Stating that the Ministry of Energy can be a successful model for realizing the slogan of national unity, the Minister of Energy stated: "Economic reform of the water and electricity industry is one of the main tools for solving existing problems in the water and electricity industry and eliminating imbalances."

According to Energy Press, citing the Ministry of Energy, Abbas Aliabadi, in a meeting with the country’s media managers, which was held in the presence of Elias Hazrati, Chairman of the Government Information Council, Mohammad Golzari, Secretary of the Government Information Council, and Mohammad Reza Norouzpour, Deputy Press Secretary of the Ministry of Guidance, regarding the latest situation in the water and electricity industry and the measures taken by the Ministry of Energy to manage these two areas, said: The Ministry of Energy is a specialized agency that is responsible for the production and supply of two strategic and vital goods for society, namely water and electricity.
He continued: Although Iran’s electricity industry is among the world’s leading countries in terms of technology and in comparison with regional and global indicators, and in some cases, such as power plant infrastructure, it is a leader and exporter of equipment to neighboring and regional countries, it is currently facing problems in the field of consumption, which requires special measures to be put on the agenda in this regard.
In this regard, the Minister of Energy stated: For example, many countries such as Pakistan, Iraq, Russia and Central Asian countries are currently customers of the equipment and infrastructure products of the Iranian electricity industry, and it can be said with confidence that the country’s electricity industry is one of the country’s strengths.
The Minister of Energy stated: In Iran, approximately one billion kilowatt hours of electricity, 800 million cubic meters of gas, 120 million liters of gasoline and 100 million liters of diesel are produced and consumed daily, and in the water sector, 100 billion cubic meters of water are consumed annually, which are very high and indicative numbers compared to countries in the region and the world.
At the same time, he listed the imbalances among the important challenges in this field and emphasized: The problems that the Ministry of Energy is currently facing in the field of responding to the increased demand for water and electricity can only be solved with collective efforts and national commitment, and to fully solve these problems, it is necessary to use all the capacities available in the country.
Aliabadi, pointing out that the 14th government is proud to be serving the Iranian nation with the slogan of national consensus, stated: Considering the missions that the Ministry of Energy has in the field of water and electricity supply in the country and noting that the complete solution of these challenges requires synergy and collective efforts, this ministry can be one of the successful models of consensus and empathy for serving and solving challenges.
Using the tariff tool for a fair and sustainable supply of water and electricity in the country
In another part of his speech, he explained the macro policies of the Ministry of Energy to solve the challenges of the water and payment industry and said in this regard: The macro policy of the Ministry of Energy in the field of water and electricity supply in various sectors, especially the household sector, is to allocate subsidies to subscribers who use within the framework of the water and electricity model, but to limit subscribers who consume above the electricity model and are very high-consumption, through measures such as increasing tariffs and technical tools, in order to enable a fair and sustainable supply of water and electricity in the country.
Aliabadi pointed out the need to reform the water and electricity economy to overcome current problems and develop these two industries, and reminded them: For example, one of the challenges facing the electricity industry at present is the economy of this industry. For example, while in the tropical regions of the country the price of each kilowatt-hour of electricity for household subscribers is 36 Tomans and for some uses, such as educational uses, it is free, the cost of electricity production is much higher.
