Isfahan Refinery Flare Gas Recovery Project Reaches 85% Progress
The CEO of Isfahan Oil Refining Company announced the implementation of the flare gas recovery project with a budget of more than 6.8 million euros and 520 billion rials, saying: This project has achieved 85% physical progress so far and will be operational by the end of 1404.

According to Energy Press, quoting Isfahan Oil Refining Company, Gholamreza Bagheri Dizaj, explaining the company’s environmental actions, stated: “One of the refinery’s most important projects in this area is flare gas recovery (FGR), which is being implemented with a budget of more than 6.8 million euros and 520 billion rials with the aim of completely eliminating flare gases; this project has reached 85% physical progress so far and will be operational by the end of 1404. Also, with the launch of this project, the refinery will be exempted from Note 4, Article 4 of the executive regulations approved by the Cabinet on Article 27 of the Value Added Tax Law.” Referring to the start of studies to construct a sulfur management unit in 1402 and obtaining a permit to implement the project from the Environmental Protection Agency in November 1404, he stated: This project has been approved with a budget of 200 million euros and its goal is to convert all solid sulfur produced (which is currently sold in bulk) along with waste gases and industrial wastewater into environmental products that can be used in agricultural uses as environmentally friendly fertilizers. One of the important advantages of this project is the lack of need for clean water, and its entire water consumption is provided by gray wastewater and industrial waste.
Isfahan Refinery Does Not Impact the Province’s Air Quality
The CEO of Isfahan Oil Refining Company pointed to the implementation of a project to model the emission of air pollutants using the “AERMOD” engineering software in cooperation with specialized and capable companies, and added: “The results of this modeling, which have also been sent to the General Directorate of Environmental Protection of the province, show that the Isfahan Refinery has no impact on the air quality of Isfahan and the surrounding counties.”
