In an interview with Ilna’s economic reporter, Irfan Afazeli said about the world’s focus on gas exports through LNG and Iran’s position in this field: In general, it is predicted that the demand for oil will reach its peak in 2030, and after that the demand for gas will shift. Natural and then renewable energies move.
He stated that according to forecasts, the demand for natural gas will reach 4.7 trillion cubic meters in 2030, he added: the most suitable methods of natural gas transmission for large volumes are two methods of transmission with pipeline and LNG. The possibility of transferring to remote areas is superior to the first method.
The Secretary General of the Oil Export Federation stated that the export of LNG will lead to the globalization of natural gas and said: According to the latest reports published by BP in 2021, the amount of liquid gas and LNG exports exceeded the amount of pipeline exports.
He continued: According to the statistics of the World Gas Union, in 2023, we saw a 2.1% increase in global LNG exchange, which reached 401 million tons, and LNG exports compared to 2022; It has increased by 8.4 million tons and connected 20 export markets to 51 import markets, and for this process, approximately 180 companies in the world participate.
Afazeli stated: In 2023, the United States with 84.5 million tons, Australia with 79.6 million tons, Qatar with 78.2 million tons, and Russia with 39.4 million have ranked first to fourth in LNG exports, respectively, and the European Union With 121 million tons, China with 71.2 million tons and Japan with 66.1 million tons are the largest importers of LNG in 2023.
He stated: The growth of LNG exports in 2023 was influenced by America with an increase of almost 9 million tons, Algeria with an increase of 2.8 million tons, and Mozambique with an increase of 2.6 million tons. reach 700 million tons, on the other hand in 2023; 16 terminals have been added to the import terminals in the world, and the number of LNG carriers has reached 48 around the world.
