Iran’s electricity export to Europe through Türkiye
According to Energy Press, Mustafa Rajabi Mashhadi explained this news and stated: We do not have a common border with Europe, but through an advanced post (back-to-back) through Turkey, it is possible to exchange energy with Europe up to 600 megawatts.
According to him, in this regard, a protocol and an agreement have been signed between Iran’s Electricity Network Management Company and the Turkish side, based on which technical protocols have been set up so that the plan can take an executive form and be carried out in a favorable manner. In general, the plan is to first export electricity to Turkey and then through this country to European countries, and in the same way, it will be imported from Europe to Turkey and then to Iran.
Rajabi Mashhadi added: What has been studied in terms of studies is that there is a capacity to exchange electricity with neighboring countries up to 3,000 megawatts, but through the new lines that we are considering in the future plans, the possibility of exchanging electricity with these countries up to 5,000 megawatts. MW can be increased.
He stressed that the exchange of electricity with neighboring countries can even help to solve the electricity imbalance in the hot season of the year through imports.
