Iran is the world’s third largest gas producer, but it is one of the worst consumers

According to Energy Press, Saeed Tavakoli, CEO of the National Iranian Gas Company, in his speech at the International Conference on Investment and Financing of the Oil, Gas and Petrochemical Industry held at Allameh Tabatabaei University, thanked the founders and organizers of the conference and considered this event an important step towards identifying investment barriers in the energy sector.
He pointed out that “a large part of the investment challenges in the country arise during the implementation phase and due to legal and regulatory obstacles,” and said that the opportunity of this conference should be used to precisely correct these points.
Referring to the status of the National Gas Company and the priorities set by the Parliament’s Energy Commission, Tavakoli stated: In the country’s investment portfolio, some projects are large and long-term, but along with that, small and continuous measures should not be lost, because these small projects can have significant effects on productivity.
He announced the implementation of the pilot project of user companies in the Cabinet and the energy efficiency resolution, adding: “Our prediction in the field of efficiency is an increase of more than 10 percent in energy efficiency.”
The existence of 21 million low-efficiency boilers in the country

The CEO of the National Gas Company mentioned the replacement of low-efficiency boilers as one example of optimization measures, saying: There are more than 21 million low-efficiency boilers in the country, and so far, replacement contracts have been signed for 1 million and 725 thousand units, and our goal is to cover more than four million units.
According to him, optimizing the engine rooms of executive agencies has also been one of the important projects of the National Gas Company: to date, more than 111 thousand public engine rooms and half of government buildings have been put on the path to improving consumption, and a smart control system has been installed for 100 thousand engine rooms.
