Investigating the energy imbalance and its impact on national security in the parliament
According to Energy Press, Ebrahim Rezaei said about the meeting of the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission of the Islamic Consultative Assembly held on Tuesday evening (January 8) with the presence of the Ministers of Oil and Energy: “The issue of energy imbalance and its role in the country’s national security was discussed and examined in this meeting.”
Stating that the Minister of Oil presented a report from his ministry on domestic gas supply and the measures taken by the ministry, he added: “The Minister of Oil emphasized in this meeting that the ministry seeks to ensure that people face the least challenges in the energy sector.”
Referring to the two components that the Minister of Oil mentioned in the area of imbalance, the spokesperson for the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission of the Parliament said: Increasing production and managing demand in consumption can reduce the energy imbalance.
Rezaei clarified: “According to the Minister of Oil, the ministry has increased gas and oil and gas production in recent months, and the amount of feedstock for refineries has also increased.” According to the Minister of Oil, supporting energy-intensive industries is on the agenda of the Ministry of Oil, and increasing gas pressure in the South Pars gas field is also one of the programs that the Ministry of Oil is pursuing. If no measures are taken regarding increasing pressure, we will lose production from Phase 1 of South Pars.
