Innovation in Tehran Oil Refining; Water Recycling After 12 Years

According to Energy Press, citing Tehran Oil Refining Company, Farshad Aziminia, referring to the annual water consumption savings of 112 billion rials, stated: In line with the optimal management of water resources and preventing the waste of this vital capital, experts from the company’s technical and operational units, by implementing an innovative plan, succeeded in completely returning the water output from Hydrogen Unit 3 (3V-804) to the consumption cycle after 12 years.
Stating that this water flow with a capacity of more than 9 thousand kilograms per hour, equivalent to 216 cubic meters per day, was previously discharged to the ground due to a defect in the design of Hydrogen Unit 3 and its acidic nature, he continued: Now, by carrying out corrective measures, technical reviews, and using the excess capacity of the deaerator located in Hydrogen Unit 1, it is being used again in production processes.
The head of refining engineering for the Isomax and Hydrogen units of Tehran Oil Refining Company added: “By improving the design conditions and increasing steam injection into the deaerator (DA-801) and stabilizing the water pH in the standard range of 8 to 9, the experts in this department succeeded in completing the reception of excess water 3V-804 output from Hydrogen Unit 3 and increasing it to more than 18,000 kilograms per hour.”
