Industries lag behind in supplying their own electricity; only 30% of the 10,000 MW commitment was achieved

According to Energy Press, Esmail Hosseini, referring to Article 4 of the Law on Removing Obstacles to the Development of the Electricity Industry, said: The Law on Removing Obstacles to the Development of the Electricity Industry stipulates that industries with electricity consumption above one megawatt are required to produce part of their electricity. According to this law, industries are required to self-supply about 5 percent of their electricity within five years.
He continued: Unfortunately, for various reasons, industries are lagging behind in implementing this legal obligation and have not yet fulfilled their obligations. It is expected that the Ministry of Energy will be more precise in monitoring the implementation of this legal clause.
The spokesman for the Energy Commission explained: Some industries have very high electricity consumption, for example, industries consume about 500 megawatts of electricity, which means that their electricity consumption is more than that of a city. According to the law, these industries must provide part of their electricity, and part of it must be provided from renewable energies, including solar energy.
