Increasing the production of thermal power plants to 140 million megawatts
According to Energy Press, Ismail Namazi, referring to the complete readiness of the country’s power plants to supply peak electricity this summer, added: 58 percent of this production is related to combined cycle units, whose energy production increased by two percent compared to the same period last year. It has reached 79 million megawatt hours.
Namazi reminded: In the 13th government, with the addition of 14 new steam units, the combined cycle power plants of Jahrom, Haris, Urmia (two units), Chabahar, South Pars Mission (two units), Gharb Karun, Asaluyeh, Ferdowsi, Khorramabad, Sablan (two units) and Carbonat Semnan sodium, we are witnessing a jump in the production of combined cycle power plants as environmentally friendly electricity generating units.
He added: Converting gas power plants to a combined cycle is one of the most efficient ways to improve the efficiency of thermal power plants in the country, which is very effective not only for the electricity industry, but also for the environment and saving fuel consumption, and we will see its wide-ranging effects in the coming years. Only from the opening of these new units, 3 billion and 250 million cubic meters of fuel will be saved annually.
