Increasing renewable energy capacity to more than 1,800 megawatts
Deputy Minister of Energy Tarz Talab announced an increase of 500 megawatts in the capacity of renewable power plants by the end of this year, adding: "The capacity of new energies in the country will increase to more than 1,800 megawatts this year."

According to Energy Press, Mohsen Tarztalab, Deputy Minister of Energy and CEO of SATBA, referring to the approximately 1,300 MW capacity of renewable energies in the country, stated: “Based on the plans, approximately 500 MW of new renewable power plants will be put into operation by the end of this year, and the electricity generation capacity in this area will increase to more than 1,800 MW.”
He stated: “In the past two decades, a maximum of approximately 130 MW has been added to the capacity of renewable energies annually, and now the organization has taken steps towards the development of renewable energies in megawatts; with the plans, 25,000 MW of solar power plants and 5,000 MW of wind power plants are planned to be built, which will require approximately $5 billion annually and a total of $15 billion over the next three years.”
According to Tarz Talab, the expectation of the President, the Minister of Energy, and the country’s governing body from the SATBA organization is that the production of more than 30,000 megawatts to address the country’s energy imbalance will be achieved in a short time, and in this regard, the government and other relevant executive agencies will provide any assistance necessary so that not only the goals set for the country’s energy sector in the Seventh Development Plan can be implemented, but also, given the country’s need to address the electricity imbalance and fuel shortage, a plan approximately three times the size of the Seventh Plan can be implemented in this direction.
