The spokesperson of the Parliament's Energy Commission in an interview with "Energy Press":
In the research and investigation of government petrochemicals, the type of discount to buyers, the way of contracting and supplying parts is clarified
According to Energy Press, the case of government petrochemical violations was brought to parliament and the representatives agreed to investigate them. In an interview with “Energy Press”, Mustafa Nakhai, the spokesman of the Parliament’s Energy Commission, pointed out that the parliament is key to research and investigation of state-owned petrochemicals, and emphasized that there are many cases that the investigators can investigate for the investigation and investigation of state-owned petrochemicals.
He further pointed to these proposed axes and said: Among these axes, it can be pointed out that petrochemicals must supply their raw materials minus gas or liquid feed, prepare some additives and required materials and supply parts and in what form. And pay attention to how they buy.
Nakhai added: The sales mechanism and whether everyone offers their products in a competitive process on the stock exchange? Or do they sell part of their products in a negotiated way? It should be investigated.
The spokesperson of the Parliament’s Energy Commission stressed: It should be determined by what criteria the type of discount given to buyers is done? By whom and how is it determined and applied? Therefore, in the discussion of supplying the required parts and the contracts they carry out for part of their activities, they should be investigated.
He added: the contract they do for the supply of petrochemical raw materials or the repairs of a part of petrochemicals; It is also one of the things that should be investigated.
The spokesperson of the Energy Commission of the 11th Parliament in response to what issues and problems occurred that some parliamentarians felt the need to investigate government petrochemicals? He said: Although the statistics and figures show that state-owned petrochemical companies have huge profits, but constantly in the smallest changes, for example, in the gas price, which the government changed from 5,000 tomans to 7,000 tomans, the voice of the methanol companies, which are mostly state-owned, was raised that the market We don’t have it and we are at a loss. While for many years, a series of special privileges have been granted to methanols.
He explained: Considering the discount that has been given to them in the feed rate for years, they have not spent any art and their only art is the production of methanol and they have raised the price. Sometimes we see that due to the sanctions, they face problems in sales and the only buyers of our methanol are the Chinese. Worse, the price is determined by the Chinese as buyers.
The spokesperson of the Parliament’s Energy Commission added: Because of this, many petrochemical companies have suffered losses. The point is that when privileges and rents such as discount and low price of petrochemical feed have been granted, and of course many other privileges have been granted, they have a duty to create a chain and not to remain a methanol manufacturer forever.
Nakhai added: They should create methanol in the downstream chain and produce more value-added products that cannot be sanctioned in order to meet part of the domestic needs. While we only sell methanol. This product is converted into other products abroad and we import the same products into the country, and this is a loss for the country.
This member of parliament continued: The majority of this task has been the responsibility of the government petrochemicals, which have not fulfilled their duty. Therefore, the investigators of petrochemicals should investigate these issues, why did they not do their homework? What were the obstacles in their way? And where is the current shortfall done?
The spokesperson of the Parliament’s Energy Commission also emphasized: The point is, petrochemical companies have distributed all the profits they have had among their shareholders for many years, and they have never spent a part of this profit to create added value in the country!
He stated that although we have increased production in terms of tonnage in the past years, there has been a lot of neglect in improving the quality and production and completing the chains of materials needed by the country, and added: A significant share of these faults and failures are directed at the government petrochemicals and the government sector. They should be responsible for this.
Nakhai also answered that what is the reason for the difference in the sale price of petrochemical products in domestic companies with the global price? He explained: The main reason for the price difference of the products we export with the world price is that the majority of the products we export are methanol. It means that we have something close to 10 million tons of methanol production, most of which is exported, but this product of ours has only one customer in the world.
He continued: In other words, we are one of the largest methanol producers in the world, but the bulk of the methanol we produce has only one customer in the world, and it is natural that China, as the only customer of Iran’s methanol, due to the non-competitiveness of this market, will sell it at whatever price it wants. He wants to buy this product. Therefore, the main reason for this difference in the selling price of our products with the global price is the lack of customer diversity. Therefore, we cannot sell our non-competitive product at a global price.
