How will Iran’s new gasoline decisions affect CNG consumption?
Mohsen Johari said about the new gasoline decisions and its possible impact on the increase in CNG demand: the main issue is that we do not have a dual-fuel car now, when the decrease in the supply of gasoline will increase the demand for other fuels, including CNG, when there are CNG-consuming cars and the number of these cars should increase, now we have a fixed number of CNG-burning cars that have been consuming this fuel since the past, in fact, there is no necessary infrastructure to change the fuel consumption approach, and there is no will to do so.
He added: Until the government’s policy to increase the number of dual-fuel cars changes, whatever happens will have no effect on the increase in CNG demand, because there is unfortunately no dual-fuel car production policy in the field of automobile manufacturers.
The head of the board of directors of the country’s CNG trade association said: the solution to change the fuel from the people; The increase in demand is in the field of CNG, the government should consider incentive plans to encourage people to make their own cars dual-fueled, for example, paying the cost of car conversion, free technical inspection and insurance, free municipal services, or the government like in the 80s. Rasa will convert the private and public cars of the applicants into dual-fuel cars for free.
Referring to the new plan to replace taxi tanks and its effect on the increase in CNG consumption, he stated: Now the plan to replace taxi tanks is being carried out for free, but these are cars that currently use CNG, the effect is that only It prevents further reduction of CNG consumption, now many private cars and vans cannot use CNG fuel due to the expiration and exhaustion of tanks, and the plan considered by the government prevents further reduction of CNG consumption.
