Historic overhaul in Shazand, disruption in supply, and new hope for Sharak shareholders
Shazand Petrochemical Company will enter one of the largest overhauls in the last decade on June 7th; at the same time, disruptions in land transportation have challenged the complex's feedstock and affected production and sales; but perhaps the most promising news for shareholders is the reform of the feedstock pricing method starting in July.

According to the report of “Energy Press” and quoting the Public Relations and International Affairs of Shazand Petrochemical Company, Abbas Karimi, CEO of the company, referring to the upcoming overhaul (major repairs), stated: This overhaul, which will be carried out on a very large scale, will begin on June 17, and major repairs on this scale were last carried out in 2014.
He went on to point out the most important measures of these repairs and said: Repairs are on the agenda in all 23 production units and ancillary services. The most important programs include the repair and overhaul of various compressors at the complex level, as well as the replacement of the EO/EG unit catalyst. For initial preparation, some units will be gradually removed from production.
Disruption in feed transportation and its impact on Shazand sales
The CEO of Shazand Petrochemical Company stated regarding the feed supply situation: Given that 70 percent of the feed required by the complex is supplied through land transportation, unfortunately, in the current situation, disruption in this type of transportation has affected the amount of feed received, the complex’s production, and also the shipment of sold products.
Production of new hydrocarbon grades in Sharak
In another part of his speech, Karimi referred to the production of new hydrocarbon grades and said: About 25 percent of the company’s sales were related to the A80 hydrocarbon product, the main export market of which is Afghanistan. Due to the implementation of new laws by the Afghan government on May 7, the export of this product has currently been suspended.
