Governor of the Central Bank of Qatar: We adhere to our commitments with Iran for 6 billion dollars
The governors of the Central Bank of the Islamic Republic of Iran and Qatar discussed issues related to the development of banking cooperation and joint investments after the transfer of 6 billion dollars to Iranian banks in Qatar.

According to the report of Energy Press, quoting from the Central Bank, Dr. Mohammad Reza Farzin, the Governor General of the Central Bank of Iran, stated in this meeting: Considering that Iran’s freed foreign exchange resources can be used in Qatar through SWIFT and with LC openings, so now the technical communication between Qatari banks and 6 Iranian banks are in the process and the operating banks send and operate the necessary payment orders by establishing these technical connections.
The Governor General of the Central Bank of our country, referring to the axes of the previous agreement between Iran and Qatar on how to use these foreign exchange resources in 6 Iranian banks in Qatar, emphasized on speeding up the matter in order to start the payment next week.
Dr. Sheikh Bandar bin Mohammad bin Saud Al Thani, the Governor General of the Central Bank of Qatar, also emphasized in this meeting: Qatar adheres to all its obligations with Iran and there is no obstacle in the development of banking relations between the two countries.
The Governor General of the Central Bank of Qatar, referring to the basic and good measures that have been taken in recent days regarding the use of foreign exchange resources of Iran in Qatar, said:
The rumors raised about this during the last one or two days have no real value and were more of a joke and a media game.
According to this report, on the sidelines of the annual meeting of the International Monetary Fund in Marrakesh, Dr. Farzin met and discussed with the senior managers of the International Monetary Fund as well as with a group of governors of the central banks of the countries of the region and the BRICS group regarding the increase of monetary and banking cooperation.
The annual meeting of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank in 2023 will be held simultaneously from October 9 to 15 (October 9 to 15, 1402) in Morocco.
This is the first time in the last 50 years that these summits are held in the African continent.
