Get to know one of the largest refineries in Iran: Isfahan Oil Refinery

According to Energy Press, Isfahan Oil Refining Company began its activities in 1979, immediately after the Islamic Revolution, using designs made by American and German companies (Flor and Thyssen). This refinery was built in the northwest of Isfahan on an area of 340 hectares and is currently known as the second largest refinery in Iran in terms of production volume.
The current crude oil refining capacity in this complex is about 375 thousand barrels per day, which is done through three distillation units, each with a capacity of 125 thousand barrels. The main feedstock of the refinery is supplied from the Maroon oil field in Khuzestan province and is transported through a 430-kilometer pipeline.
The main products of this refinery are liquefied petroleum gas, gasoline, kerosene, gas oil, fuel oil, as well as feedstock for downstream industries (special) including vacuum bottom, special kerosene, naphtha, platformite and base oil.
According to information published in 2024, the company’s major shareholders include Ava Pardis Salamat Company with 15%, Provincial Investment Companies of Justice with 12%, Refah Capital Development Investment Company with 11%, and Iran Export Bank with 5%. The company entered the Tehran Stock Exchange in 2008 under the symbol SHEPNA and is still one of the active stocks in this market.
