Gasoline should be made more expensive when the car becomes cheaper
According to Energy Press, Bijan Zanganeh considered productivity as one of the requirements of sustainability in the development cycle, but said: We are still involved in the most basic basics of productivity and we are still debating whether development is good or bad. We have not yet entered the development cycle and we still have problems interacting with the world, and in this regard, in addition to the government, a part of our elites who have a journalistic view of the economy instead of a real approach are also to blame.
Speaking at the General Assembly of the Iranian Productivity Association, Zanganeh called “productivity” one of the products of Western civilization and one of the stages of technological development and added: “But after the revolution, there is a kind of anti-Westernism even among our elites, and whatever we produce, We say that it is better than its foreign equivalent, which is incorrect in many cases and this process holds us back from the global education process.
He raised the question, “Why is the connection between industry and our university still weak?” He said: It may be thought that the problem lies with industrial managers or university professors, which has caused hundreds of university theses to be of no practical use, or the problem is the lack of research funding, which should be solved with the approval of the parliament, for example, but the essence of the matter is this: an economy in which If there is no competition, there is no need for research.
He explained: In the economic field, if a company cannot compete in the free market environment, i.e. either raise its quality or lower its price, it will be destroyed. Competition in the natural market is not a matter of choice, it is a matter of staying or not staying and it is a matter of life and death. In the last three decades, big companies like Nokia were completely eliminated in areas that we never imagined. This result is the important issue of competition that determines which company stays and which doesn’t? And the way to survive is to increase the quality or decrease the price.
The former oil minister, referring to the “discomfort of one of the Japanese ministers over the decrease in bankruptcies in Japanese companies”, said: “Now, in some cases, our government and the judiciary bring bankrupt companies back to life cycle by force, and the cost price does not matter at all, only the workers They should get their rights. But the Japanese minister lamented that competition (symbolized and resulting in the bankruptcy of weak firms) among Japanese firms had diminished.
Zanganeh answers the question, “Do we accept the interactive economy based on the free market with all its weaknesses?” assessed it as important and added: “If we don’t want to interact, we have no choice but to adopt import substitution policy, but this policy has not brought even one country into the development cycle.” When our companies do not have an advantage and do not compete with anywhere, they collude internally instead of competing, and the result is severe pressure on the people. In some cases, the reason for our growth in sports is the acceptance of international norms, and if we are to compete only with ourselves in the economy, we will not grow at all.
Considering the effectiveness of the government, he said at the same time: more than the government, our elites themselves contribute to this weakness, because some of them accept import substitution rather than positive interaction with the world. While a self-sufficient country is different from a country with a positive trade balance. For export, you have to produce something that others will buy, not to sell, for example, a $15,000 car for $10,000. This cannot be continued.
Comparing the approach of two countries, China and Russia, Zanganeh said: China has accepted international norms except in politics and part of social affairs and has become a giant that competes with America, but Russia has not accepted the norms and for 30 years its economy has only been on the border of Spain. . In the last ten years, its economic growth has been zero and it has only a fruitless attempt to gain points from the West for having its atomic bomb.
