Gas consumption in the brick industry can be reduced by up to 90 percent with new technologies

According to Energy Press, citing the National Iranian Gas Company, Ali Asghar Rajabi stated on Saturday (September 19) on the second day of the first Isinex International Investment Expo in Isfahan Province that consumption management does not only mean saving, but also a strategic measure to preserve resources and reduce pollution, and stated: Reforming the energy consumption pattern, in addition to reducing costs, is a basis for investors to enter the energy market and create added economic value.
He pointed to the brick industry as a prominent example of this change and said: Isfahan Province, as the country’s brick production hub, has a high share in gas consumption. About 300 cubic meters of gas are consumed to produce each ton of brick, but with the change in technology, this figure is reduced to 150 cubic meters in Hoffman kilns, 80 cubic meters in the tunnel method, and only 27 cubic meters in the roller method; a development that could be an important leap in reducing consumption and increasing productivity.
The Director of Energy and Carbon of the National Iranian Gas Company announced the compilation of a document for the improvement and modernization of the brick industry in Isfahan province and stated: “In the framework of this document, several memorandums of understanding have been signed in the field of investment, which, in addition to optimizing gas consumption, will lead to reducing pollution and improving environmental conditions.”
Referring to a new innovation in the field of financing, Rajabi said: “For the first time, reducing gas consumption in the household, agricultural and industrial sectors compared to the baseline of the past three years has the ability to be converted into securities. These securities will be offered on the energy exchange and will turn energy saving into an opportunity for earning income and sustainable investment.”
Gas, the driving force of investment and sustainable energy development
In continuation of the meeting, Ebrahim Mohseni Hamagarani, CEO of Isfahan Province Gas Company, emphasized Iran’s unique position in the field of gas and stated: “I consider reforming the consumption pattern, developing new energies and sustainable investment to be the way to overcome the energy imbalance; A way that, through empathy and changing consumer behavior, can turn threats into opportunities for the national economy to flourish.
