Forecast of electricity consumption growth to 80,000 megawatts

According to Energy Press, Reza Kafili, General Manager of Engineering and Management of the Tavanir Power Network, referring to the increase in temperature and the existing imbalance, said: “Given the increase in temperature, they estimate that there will be between 22,000 and 24,000 megawatts of electricity imbalance, but in the current situation, given that peak consumption reaches 72,000 to 74,000 megawatts, which is not more than 12,000 megawatts given the production that is being carried out.
He continued: “It should be borne in mind that part of the country’s electricity production is the responsibility of hydroelectric power plants, which this year, given the decrease in rainfall and the decrease in dam reserves, we are managing to make the necessary use at the peak, which is in August, and have the least outages.”
Kafili noted: “We can now receive more energy from hydroelectric power plants, given that it may encounter problems at the peak, and if we use the entire potential of hydroelectric power plants, the existing imbalance will be much less.”
The General Manager of Engineering and Network Management of Tavanir Company added: “Since the beginning of the year, we have tried to implement consumption management programs alongside load management, including industrial, agricultural, administrative, etc. We manage the load so that it does not exceed a certain level. However, consumption management programs require culture building, which we addressed in issues such as cooling devices, illegal cryptocurrency mining, and other such cases, as these factors have a significant impact on consumption.” He pointed out that office, commercial, and household consumption have a significant impact on electricity imbalance, and added: “These factors have caused the growth of society’s consumption to decline this year, so that if electricity consumption were to be managed with this level of temperature increase and water shortage reserves, as in previous years, this level of imbalance would have increased.”
