Exploration activities in the marine sector will resume in the 14th government
According to Energy Press, Seyyed Mohiuddin Jafari, during the signing ceremony of a memorandum of understanding for joint exploration cooperation with the Iranian Offshore Oil Company and two contracts for the supply of onshore and offshore drilling rigs with the Northern Drilling Company on Saturday (January 19), pointed out that the scope of the National Iranian Oil Company’s exploration management’s activities is as large as the geographical scope of the country, and stated: In conducting geological, geophysical and drilling studies, this management has focused on the onshore sector in the past due to limitations in the supply of rigs.
He stated that since the second development plan, the average drilling rig of the National Iranian Oil Company’s exploration management has been 6 rigs per year, adding: Today, with the assistance of the CEO of the National Iranian Oil Company, this number is set to increase, and currently, Sina Energy Holding Company provides 70 percent of the onshore and offshore rigs of this management by providing five onshore rigs and one offshore rig. Also, nearly 70 percent of the drilling budget in the exploration drilling sector is allocated to this holding.
The exploration manager of the National Iranian Oil Company referred to the cooperation agreement with the Iranian Offshore Oil Company and stated: “Within the framework of this agreement and considering the existing infrastructure, we will carry out joint exploration activities with this company, and seismic surveying of the Nusrat field is one of these joint projects.”
