Excessive consumption of household gas: the secret behind two-thirds of winter air pollution in Iran

According to Energy Press, Hossein Mirafazli, in an explanation of the actual amount of gas consumption and the need to reform the home heating model, stated that technical calculations show that with very little gas or electricity consumption, the temperature of homes can be maintained at the desired level, but energy waste in the country is extremely high, which causes irrational gas consumption and increased air pollution in winter. Optimal use of energy for home heating
Mirafazli said at the beginning of his speech: My calculations show that with one cubic meter of gas, the temperature of a 100-meter house can be raised from 5 degrees to 25 degrees Celsius. If we assume that there is no energy waste, this temperature remains constant. But in real conditions, the amount of energy waste determines how much gas must be consumed to maintain this temperature.
He added: If we have only one percent of energy waste, we can maintain heat with about one hundredth of a cubic meter of gas per day. But if this waste reaches 100 percent, we must consume about 2 cubic meters of gas per day to maintain the same temperature of 25 degrees.
Irrational gas consumption and its role in air pollution
The energy expert continued, referring to the current gas consumption pattern in the country: In winter, Iranian households sometimes consume 25 to 30 cubic meters of gas per day. This consumption rate means a massive and terrible waste of energy.
A large part of winter air pollution in large cities is also caused by this issue. According to calculations, two-thirds of winter pollution is related to gas consumption in homes and only one-third is related to cars.
